The overall objective of the intervention is to enhance the freedom of expression and participation by the people and CSOs in Uganda by campaigning for the review of emergency laws and directives enforced by the government of Uganda for controlling the spread of COVID-19, which have ended up shrinking the civic space. This project will have a special focus on advocating against the directives and laws that are aimed at constricting the civic space and human rights in Uganda. The project will leverage on technology and prioritize innovative initiatives - use of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT). To strengthen the advocacy capacity of local civil society organizations to effectively monitor human rights abuses and advocate for respect of people’s freedoms in Uganda. To document, analyse and disseminate the social and economic impact of the emergency laws and directives that have been put in place by the Uganda government to control COVID-19.
