The overall challenge addressed through this intervention is the shrinking space for urban young people’s democratic engagement and participation in the 2023 national elections in Zimbabwe. The current COVID-19 situation and its implications for young people in Zimbabwe and civil society organisations paints a dark future for holding a free and fair election in 2023. The project pursues the following objectives: Development objective: To strengthen young people’s democratic engagement and participation in the 2023 Zimbabwean national election in the context of the Government’s COVID-19 response. Specific objective 1: Strengthen the mobilisation of young people by enhancing the capacity and organizational resilience of youth groups. Specific objective 2: Increase young people’s knowledge and understanding of their basic constitutional and democratic rights. Specific objective 3: Enable young people’s participation in the 2023 election by securing their voting rights.
