The WITH YOU project - Paving the way for single mothers' participation and inclusion in Tunisia

In Tunisia, single mothers are stigmatized and marginalised due to religious and traditional norms. In a country that is often seen as a regional frontrunner for women’s rights, single mothers represent an overlooked group of women with no avenues for speaking out about their struggles. FSA and Danner will take the first steps towards placing single mothers on the Tunisian agenda and preparing the ground for initiatives on single mothers’ participation. The project has two major and interlinked purposes. First, it will seek to expand the knowledge base on single mothers’ conditions, needs and wishes through an action research study. Second, the project will build a better support system for single mothers through lobby activities and establishment of an action alliance to support and safeguard single mothers and their solidarity allies. These two components are important for the success of future endeavours in breaking through the barriers of patriarchal values and norms.
