Resume:

The project seeks to strengthen the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) affected by the restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic in Malaba in Busia County of Kenya. The Covid-19 restrictions introduced by the government has grounded the operations of the CSOs leading to an explosion in GBV, child pregnancy, school dropout and transactional sex. The project will invigorate the dormant civil society groups operating in Malaba to manage the escalating human rights violations meted on especially women and girls by state agencies, the truck drivers and other actors. The project will build the capacity and legitimacy of CSOs to effectively address GBV and other human rights violations in Malaba. Furthermore, the project will strengthen collaboration between relevant state actors and the CSOs by initiating stakeholder dialogue forums aimed at bringing understanding and building a partnership platform for addressing GBV and other human rights violations.
